Psalm 95

In this song of praise, the psalmist, whom I’m assuming is Moses, encourages us to worship the Lord and listen to His voice. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “Come, Let us sing to the Lord! Let us give a joyous shout to the rock of salvation! Let us come before him with thanksgiving. Let us sing him psalms of praise. For the Lord is a great God, the great King above all gods. He owns the depths of the earth, and even the mightiest mountains are his. The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too.

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the sheep under his care.

Oh, that you would listen to his voice today! The Lord says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. For there your ancestors tried my patience; they courted my wrath though they had seen my many miracles. (Why are we so foolish? We have experienced God’s presence in our lives. We have witnessed His miraculous power, and we still flirt with His wrath by not listening to Him. Check this powerful caption out in my bible, titled “Doubt”. It says, “When we see a footprint in the sand, do we doubt that someone walked there? When we see a fingerprint on a window, do we question whether or not a person was there? God’s works and words are his footprints and fingerprints, and they are all around us. The people of Israel saw God perform countless miracles on their behalf, yet they doubted his love and power again and again. What has God done that only God could have done that you have dismissed or forgotten?” Wow…what a great question.) For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ So in my anger I made a vow: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’” (Psalm 95) (Wow! Lord, let us not try your patience.)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us not repeat the mistakes of our ancestors. We know who you are! Let us not forget what WE KNOW you have done for each of us. Let us not try your patience and doubt your miracles. Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
