Psalm 92 - A psalm to be sung on the Lord’s Day. A song.

In this song of praise, the psalmist, Moses I believe, shares what God does for the godly. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by the harp and lute and the harmony of the lyre. You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. O Lord, what great miracles you do! And how deep are your thoughts. Only an ignorant person would not know this! Only a fool would not understand it. (Wow! Lord, there are so many fools amongst us. Help me help others understand your greatness.) Although the wicked flourish like weeds, and evildoers blossom with success, there is only eternal destruction ahead of them. But you are exalted in the heavens. You, O Lord, continue forever. Your enemies, Lord, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered.

But you have made me as strong as a wild bull. How refreshed I am by your power! (Yes, Lord!!! Thank you!) With my own eyes I have seen the downfall of my enemies; with my own ears I have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted into the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. (Wow! Listen to this….” But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon…” “Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.” This scripture supports one of my favorite scriptures. Jeremiah 17:7-8 says in so many words, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He is like a tree planted by the waters and no matter how hot it gets or how long the drought is, its leaves will always be green and it will continue to produce fruit.” Think about what both of these scriptures are saying….If WE PLANT ourselves with the Lord, in His courtyard, in His house, near the river (God is the river), so plant ourselves close to the Lord, we will continually produce fruit and our leaves will remain green! How good is God, that even when life gets too hot to bear, He will keep our leaves green and continually bless us? Lord, you are amazing!) They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is nothing but goodness in him! (Psalm 92)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for showing us that if we place our attention on getting close to you, you will forever bless us and prosper us. Lord, you are so awesome! Help me be a conduit that moves people to see and experience your awesomeness. Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
