Psalm 75 - For the choir director: A psalm of Asaph, to be sung to the tune “Do Not Destroy!”

In this song of praise, Asaph shares that God will deal with the wicked at the time He has planned. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your mighty miracles.

God says, “At the time I have planned, I will bring justice against the wicked. (Wow! God has it all planned! We never understand when the wicked seem more blessed than the godly. Just two lessons ago in Psalm 73, Asaph was ready to jump ship and live the life of the ungodly. He was tempted by their lifestyle. But God says, He will deal with them “at the time He has planned” Yes, Lord! The wicked will not get away with one thing!) When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm. (Yes, Lord! Thanks for confirming you are managing everything.)

“I warned the proud, ‘Stop your boasting!’ I told the wicked, ‘Don’t raise our fists! Don’t lift your fists in defiance at the heavens or speak with rebellious arrogance.’”

For no one on earth – from east or west, or even from the wilderness – can raise another person up. It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall. For the Lord holds a cup in his hand; it is full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours the wine out in judgment, and all the wicked must drink it, draining it to the dregs. (Yes, Lord! It is you who will deal with the wicked, not any of us. You, Lord, are in control.)

But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done; I will sing praises to the God of Israel.

For God says, “I will cut off the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.” (Psalm 75)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for sharing your words about when you will deal with the wicked. Many people ask why God allows the wicked to do this and to do that, and I never have a good answer. But today, Lord, you gave me the answer. Lord, you are so good to me. Thank you for choosing me to be a vessel to share your Word; help me to do it well. Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
