Psalm 64 - For the choir director: A psalm of David.

In this song of praise, David asks the Lord to protect him from the wicked. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “O God, listen to my complaint. Do not let my enemies’ threats overwhelm me. (Thank you, Lord! Thank you for giving us the power to pray for our emotional stability and push back on our fears and worries. Lord, with you on our side, we do not have to succumb to our troubling thoughts.) Protect me from the plots of the wicked, from the scheming of those who do evil. Sharp tongues are the swords they wield; bitter words are the arrows they aim. They shoot from ambush at the innocent, attacking suddenly and fearlessly. They encourage each other to do evil. And plan how to set their traps. “Who will ever notice?” they ask. As they plot their crimes, they say, “We have devised the perfect plan!” Yes, the human heart and mind are cunning.

But God himself will shoot them down. Suddenly, his arrows will pierce them. Their own words will be turned against them, destroying them. All who see it happening will shake their heads in scorn. Then everyone will stand in awe, proclaiming the mighty acts of God, realizing all the amazing things he does. (Yes, Lord! Help us realize your goodness and all of the amazing acts of love you blanket us with. You are awesome!)

The godly will rejoice in the Lord and find shelter in him. (Yes!!!) And those who do what is right will praise him.” (Psalm 64)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for continually fighting for us, providing shelter for us, and spoiling the many acts of evil against us. Lord, you are an awesome God, and we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
