Psalm 61 - For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by stringed instruments.

In this song of praise, David asked the Lord to shelter him beneath His wings. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth, I will cry to you for help, for my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings! (Wow…how many times have we been stressed and overwhelmed about what our enemies were doing to us and saying about us? And in the throes of those moments, it feels like our enemies are all over us! But when I think about the end result, when I think about the situation then, and where I am now…my enemies couldn’t even touch me! It was as if God had placed a FORTRESS around me. Lord, you are so amazing! All of this time, I’ve been SAFE BENEATH THE SHELTER OF YOUR WINGS. Wow! “No weapon formed against me shall prosper!” (Isaiah 54:17) The Lord will make your enemy your footstool! Thank you, Lord!!!)

For you have heard my vows, O God. You have given me an inheritance reserved for those who fear your name. (Yes!!!)

Add many years to the life of the king! May his years span the generations! May he reign under God’s protection forever. Apppoint your unfailing love and faithfulness to watch over him.

Then I will always sing praises to your name as I fulfill my vows day after day.” (Psalm 61)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us recognize that if we stay faithful to you, you will continue to provide an inheritance to us, and shelter us beneath your wings. Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
