Psalm 6 - A psalm of David, to be accompanied by an eight-stringed instrument.

In this psalm, David is anxious for the Lord to rescue him. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “O Lord, do not rebuke me in our anger or discipline me in your rage. Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, Lord for my body is in agony. I am sick at heart. How long, O Lord, until you restore me? (David seems to be getting impatient.)

Return, O Lord, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. For in death, who remembers you? Who can praise you from the grave?

I am worn out from sobbing. Every night tears drench my bed; my pillow is wet from weeping. My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.

Go away, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my crying. The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord will answer my prayer. (Even though David seemed to be getting impatient earlier in his prayer, he is confident the Lord will provide his every need.) May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame.”

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us remain faithful and trustworthy even when it seems like God is not moving on our behalf. We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
