Psalm 54 - For the choir director: A meditation of David, regarding a time when David was betrayed.

In this song of praise, David meditates, this time, on an event when someone betrayed him. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “Come with great power, O God, and rescue me! Defend me with your might. O God, listen to my prayer. Pay attention to my plea.

For strangers are attacking me; violent men are trying to kill me. They care nothing for God.

But God is my helper. The Lord is the one who keeps me alive! (Wow! “But God is our helper.” How many times have you called for help from someone and they were not able to help you? They were unable to give you what you needed. “But God…” Lord, thank you for being our helper that never disappoints!) May my enemies’ plans for evil be turned against them. Do as you promised and put an end to them.

I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O Lord, for it is good. For you will rescue me from my troubles and help me to triumph over my enemies. (Psalm 54) (Yes, Lord!)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us keep our eyes on you, Lord, knowing that you are our helper and protector, and will never forsaken us! Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
