Psalm 43

This psalm was supposed to be posted on Friday, October 21, 2022, the day after my father’s (George Bridges) birthday, but God moved in an amazing way early Friday morning and this lesson was delayed until today. I hope this song of praise is a blessing to someone, as the psalmist reaffirms he will place his hope in the Lord. Here’s the psalm in its entirety:

“O God, take up my cause! Defend me against these ungodly people. Rescue me from these unjust liars. For you are God, my only safe haven. Why have you tossed me aside? Why must I wander around in darkness, oppressed by my enemies?

Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. (Wow! How do we capture God’s light and truth? Is the light His Holy Spirit? Is His truth the Word (bible)? So in order to be guided, in order to manifest God’s presence when we need it, do we need to regularly read His Word? I would think so. Lord, thank you!) There I will go to the altar of God, to God – the source of all my joy, I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God!

Why am I discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again – my Savior and my God! (Psalm 43) (Wow…check this out! The psalmist is questioning himself...asking himself, why he is so discouraged and sad, when he has the God of the universe on his side. He’s saying to himself, “You fool! There is no reason to be discouraged and sad! I have God on my side and I will put my hope and trust in the Lord!” Lord, thank you!)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for being the source of all of our joy! Thank you for revealing this message of placing our confidence in you, knowing we do not have to be discouraged and sad, for you are with us. And if you are with us, who could ever be against us. Lord, thank you! We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
