Psalm 4 - For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by stringed instruments.

In this song of praise, David finds peace and joy in the Lord, regardless of what his enemies are doing. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “Answer me when I call, O God who declares me innocent. Take away my distress. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. (Wow...if God declares us innocent, why are we worried about what others think, say, or do?)

How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make these groundless accusations? How long will you pursue lies? (Interesting...David is experiencing the same judgments and accusations that we are faced with in our lives.)

You can be sure of this: The Lord has set apart the godly for himself. The Lord will answer when I call to him.

Don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Offer proper sacrifices, and trust in the Lord. (Wow! When people make judgments and false accusations against us, David is saying, remain silent; control your anger; and let the Lord handle it. We don't have to fight or prove anything to anybody. "The battle is not yours, but the Lords!" (2 Chronicles 20:15) Lord, you are so good!)

Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let the smile of your face shine on us, Lord. You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and wine.

I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” (Psalm 4)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for always being present in our lives. Thank you for the joy you have given us. And, Lord, help us sleep at night, knowing you will protect us and keep us safe, for the battle is not ours, but yours. We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
