Psalm 126 - A song for the ascent to Jerusalem.

In this song of praise, the psalmist assures us that the Lord will continue to do amazing things for us. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “When the Lord restored his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy! (Let us never forget how good God is to us! He wakes us every morning! That, by itself, is something to shout about!)

Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.” (Psalm 126) (Yes, Lord! In my bible there is a caption that is titled, “Suffering”. It says, “The Bible does not promise that Christians won’t suffer. In fact, the Scriptures give much evidence that we can expect to suffer, given the evil that is in the world around us and the sin that is in us. What God does promise in these and many other hope-filled passages is that our suffering can become the catalyst of new growth. God promises to redeem our suffering into his glory. What griefs are you currently suffering? Can you entrust them to God, confident that he will use them to bring new growth into your life?”)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for making it clear that suffering is inevitable, and that sometimes life will be very difficult. But “Joy comes in the morning.” You will continue to do amazing things for us, and eventually, you will redeem us and our harvest will be great! Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
