Psalm 121 - A song for the ascent to Jerusalem.

In this song of praise, the psalmist confirms that it is the Lord, himself, who watches over us. When I was a kid, it was my mother who, I thought, watched over me. And she did...and she did it well. But there is nothing like the covering of the Lord. On this day, March 13th, 2023, my mother turned 92 years old, and as much as I would like to take credit for taking care of my mother, it was the Lord who woke her up this morning. It was the Lord who blew breath into her lungs and gave her a pep in her step. Lord, thank you for watching over us! Here’s the psalm in its entirety:

“I look up to the mountains – does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth!

He will not let you stumble and fall; the one who watches over you will not sleep. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never tires and never sleeps.

The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not hurt you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all evil and preserves your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.” (Psalm 121)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for standing beside us and being our protective shade. I don’t think I’ve ever thought about you sleeping, and now that I am…how could you? You are here for us all day, every day! Lord, thank you for blessing my mother with 92 wonderful years and allowing us the opportunity to experience it with her! We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
