Psalm 110 - A psalm of David.

Wow! When I ended the last lesson in Psalm 109, my prayer was for us to focus on God’s unfailing love and let God worry about our enemies. I made reference to the scripture when God said he would make our enemies our footstool, not knowing the Lord was talking to David at the time, and also not knowing that the scripture is in the very next psalm, Psalm 110. Lord, you are amazing!

In this song of praise, the Lord reveals to David to, simply, be still and sit at His right hand until the Lord humbles his enemies. Here’s the psalm in its entirety: “The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit in honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.” (Wow! Lord, thank you! We don’t ever have to worry about our enemies…GGY(God’s Got You!))

The Lord will extend your powerful dominion from Jerusalem; you will rule over your enemies. In that day of battle, your people will serve you willingly. Arrayed in holy garments, your vigor will be renewed each day like the morning dew. The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow: “You are a priest forever in the line of Melchizedek.” The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you. He will strike down many kings in the day of his anger. He will punish the nations and fill them with their dead; he will shatter heads over the whole earth. But he himself will be refreshed from brooks along the way. He will be victorious.” (Psalm 110) (Wow…the Lord responded to David immediately, and taught him to trust in the Lord’s promise to protect him. There is no need for us to pray against our enemies; God has already promised to protect us and make them our footstools. Lord, you are amazing!)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for confirming that we should not pray against our enemies , but love them. Place in our spirit, Lord, a spirit of peace and stillness so we can wait on you to humble our enemies. Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
