Psalm 1

As we read the book of Psalms, let these wonderfully created songs of praise to God fill your spirit with joy. This is the first time that I’ve understood that psalms were songs. Enjoy the first psalm in its entirety:

“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers.

But they delight in doing everything the Lord wants; day and night they think about his law. (How much time are you spending with the Lord? In my bible, there is a side caption titled, “Intimacy”. This is what it says: “The intimacy of any relationship is a function of both the amount of time spent together and the quality of what is accomplished or shared in that time. If a parent and child spend three hours together, but those hours are spent watching television, the time doesn’t establish intimacy. This psalm suggests that an intimate relationship with God grows out of both the quantity and quality of the time we spend focused on him. Do you intentionally and consistently spend time alone with God?)

They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.

But this is not true of the wicked. They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.

They will be condemned at the time of judgment.

Sinners will have no place among the godly.

For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.” (Psalm 1)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us intentionally spend time with you each day and develop an intimate relationship with you. Help us trust in you and have confidence in you, so we can be like a tree planted by the water, and no matter the heat, our leaves will remain green and we will continue to produce fruit. Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
