Proverbs 19

Updated: Jun 12, 2023

In this chapter, Solomon, again, starts with a powerful wisdom nugget. “It is better to be poor and honest than to be a fool and dishonest.” (verse 1) I have learned over my years that this is true, and is a scripture we should embrace and integrate in our daily lives with everything within us. I have also learned over the years that when implementing this philosophy in broken relationships, it has not worked in my favor. Therefore, what do we do? A start would be to keep your relationships healthy with open, honest, and transparent communication. The second thing to do…keep your relationships healthy with open, honest, and transparent communication!

I do not have an answer for a broken relationship. I know God does, so let’s not forget prayer. At any rate, I’m sure it’s important to understand why a relationship is broken. Is it broken because you’re unevenly yoked? Is it broken because one or both are mistreated in the relationship? Is it because of deception? I’m sure the cause will affect your new beginning and truths, but whatever it is, in my experience, I have yet to see truth and brokenness coexist (except when truth causes brokenness). I have tried on several occasions with no prevail. My dad, George Bridges, used to say, “Time heals all wounds”. Maybe, time and prayer is the answer. Maybe, there just hasn’t been enough time for the brokenness to heal. God willing, I will find out.

Read the rest of Proverbs 19 for yourself, and see what wisdom nuggets fill your spirit.

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for sharing all of this knowledge with us. Your Word is our instruction manual on life. Help us embrace it and apply it, so we may live a long, prosperous, and happy life. Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
