Chapter 19 summarizes the land given to the six remaining tribes, Simeon, Zebulun, Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and Dan. Simeon’s land included 17 towns with their villages. Zebulun’s inheritance included twelve towns and their surrounding villages. Issachar’s allotment was completed with 16 towns and the surrounding villages. The tribe of Asher received 22 towns with their surrounding villages. The land given to Naphtali included 19 cities and their villages, and the tribe of Dan was given 17 towns and their villages.
The chapter ends with an allotment of land given to Joshua. “After all the land was divided among the tribes, the Israelites gave a special piece of land to Joshua as his inheritance. For the Lord had said he could have any town he wanted. He chose Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He rebuilt the town and lived there.”
The division of the Promised Land was now complete!
