Isaiah 8 - The Coming Assyrian Invasion

The chapter begins with the Lord again speaking to Isaiah and informing him that the people of Judah will be destroyed by a flood from the Euphrates River and the Assyrians because his people have continued to reject Him.

The chapter continues with Isaiah encouraging the people to trust in the Lord. Isaiah states, “The Lord has said to me in the strongest terms: “Do not think like everyone else does. Do not be afraid that some plan conceived behind closed doors will be the end of you. Do not fear anything except the Lord Almighty. He alone is the Holy One. If you fear him, you need fear nothing else. He will keep you safe. But to Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap that entangles them. Many of them will stumble and fall, never to rise again. Many will be captured.” (Isaiah 8:11-15) (Yes! If God is for us, who can be against us! (Romans 8:31) Right??? If we fear the Lord and trust in Him alone, He will take care of us! Lord, thank you!)

Isaiah concludes with the following questions from verse 19: “So why are you trying to find out the future by consulting mediums and psychics? Do not listen to their whisperings and mutterings. Can the living find out the future from the dead? Why not ask your God?”

As usual, read the rest of the chapter for yourself, draw some conclusions, make some connections, and strive to deepen your knowledge.

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us trust you completely! Help us fear you, which simply means revering and respecting you, so you will forever keep us! Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
