Isaiah 31 - The Futility of Relying on Egypt

In this chapter, Isaiah continues the narrative that trusting in others instead of God will lead to destruction. Here's how the chapter begins: “Destruction is certain for those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their cavalry and chariots instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. In his wisdom, the Lord will send great disaster; he will not change his mind. He will rise against those who are wicked, and he will crush their allies, too. For these Egyptians are mere humans, not God! Their horses are puny flesh, not mighty spirits! When the Lord clenches his fist against them, they will stumble and fall among those they are trying to help. They will all fall down and die together. (Yes! This is the God we serve!)

Isaiah ends the chapter encouraging the people to return to the Lord because the Lord is ready to save them in spite of their wickedness. As usual, read the rest of the chapter for yourself, draw some conclusions, make some connections, and strive to deepen your knowledge.

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us find the resolve to consistently trust in you. Nothing or no one in this world can protect us like you! Lord, we love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
