2 Chronicles 10 - The Northern Tribes Revolt

This chapter recounts part of 1 Kings 12:1-19. Although it only references the first half of 1 Kings 12, it looks like it is a complete copy and paste with no changes in details at all. Therefore, as usual, read it for yourself, see how it aligns with our lesson in 1 Kings, draw some conclusions, make some connections, and strive to deepen your knowledge.

I will point out that this chapter has a breakout caption titled, “Greed”, which summarizes Rehoboam’s (son of Solomon) plight, and it provides a lesson for all of us. This is what it said, “In trying to have it all, Rehoboam lost almost everything. Motivated by greed and power, he pressed too hard and divided his kingdom. He didn’t need more money or power because he had inherited the richest kingdom in the world. He didn’t need more control because the land had peace. His demands were based on selfishness rather than on reason or spiritual discernment. Those who insist on having it all often wind up with little or nothing.” (Touch Point Caption) (Wow! What a lesson to take with us each and every day.)

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us make decisions based on sound reasoning and spiritual guidance. And help us refrain from the desire to have it all. We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
