1 Chronicles 25 - Duties of Musicians

This chapter lists the musicians responsible for honoring the Lord and proclaiming His messages in the house of the Lord. The chapter begins, “David and the army commanders then appointed men from the families of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to proclaim God’s messages to the accompaniment of harps, lyres, and cymbals.” (1 Chronicles 25:1)

The chapter goes on to list all of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun.

All these men were under the direction of their fathers as they made music at the house of the Lord. Their responsibilities included the playing of cymbals, lyres, and harps at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman reported directly to the king. They and their families were all trained in making music before the Lord, and each of them – 288 in all – was an accomplished musician. The musicians were appointed to their particular term of service by means of sacred lots, without regard to whether they were young or old, teacher or student.” (1 Chronicles 25:6-8)

The chapter ends with a list of 24 sacred lots assigned to the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun. One lot was appointed to each son and twelve of their sons and relatives.

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us to be influencers, and teach our children to worship you. We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
