1 Chronicles 2 - Descendants of Israel

This will be the last lesson until the new year. Christmas break begins on Monday, December 20th through the 31st; therefore, we will resume our lessons on January 3, 2022. Wow! Can you believe it is already 2022! We were supposed to be flying in the air with cars by this time, but we have drones instead…close enough. We are, at least, able to experience the panoramic views, as though we were flying, with the drone video footage.

As a result, this is a great opportunity for us to read the remaining genealogy chapters 2 - 8 while on break. That will allow us to wrap our brains around this descendant history.

If you don’t already know, God made a promise to Abraham in the book of Genesis that he would be the “father of many nations”, and that he would have “millions of descendants”...some of them kings. Now that may not seem like a big deal if Abraham was 20, 30, or even 50 years old, but Abraham was 100! And his wife was 90! It was comical to them when the angle of the Lord told them they would have a son. But the Lord blessed them with a son named Isaac; Isaac had two sons, one named Israel, and Israel had 12 sons which are known as the 12 tribes of Israel. (That genealogy is listed in 1 Chronicles 1 and 2) Obviously, we have been studying the 12 tribes, and that brings us to our present area of study…all 12 tribes have been exiled to Assyria and Babylon, as we have learned in 2 Kings.

There you have it…we just wrapped our brains around that very important genealogical history!

So as you read about the descendants of the major players in chapter 2 - 8 in 1 Chronicles, try to make connections between these historical figures, so that you’re able to connect some of the many dots. This is not easy, so I’ll be doing the same thing, God willing.

Hopefully, we’ll come back together in January, and highlight some of those connections before moving forward to chapter 9.

Happy Holidays and I’ll see you in 2022, God willing!

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Open our minds and allow us to receive your Word in the days to come. Help us make connections that will broaden our understanding and catapult our fire to learn more. We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
