This will complete our summary of chapters 2 - 8 in 1 Chronicles. Chapters 7 and 8 did not provide any glowing connections, but chapter 8 did begin to talk about the family of Saul, who was Israel’s first king.
A chronicle is a written account of historical events in the order of their occurrence. Therefore, much of what we will see in the remainder of this book is an account of events we have already studied. As a result, I will attempt to highlight what’s new and then redirect us to the book, chapter, and verses that cover the information in 1 Chronicles.
We will resume, God willing, our regular lesson format on Monday, the 10th, with chapter 9 discussing the return of various tribes to the Promised Land from the exiled area of Babylon. Chapter 10 will then begin the process of recounting the historical events in the order of their occurrences, starting with the death of Saul and ending with the end of David’s reign in chapter 29.
Lord, thank you for your Word today! Thank you for establishing within us a solid foundation of learning which allows us to easily build on. Help us to see your Word in its most simplistic form, showing itself elementary, when in actuality it is our most difficult piece of literature. We love you!
