Chapter 3 is the next connection-producing chapter. It covers the descendants of David, Solomon, and Jehoiachin. Here are the connections I made from this chapter:
Reading the list of Solomon’s children, I deduced that Solomon produced some great men of God. Out of 15 sons, 8 were great servants of the Lord...one being my boy Jehoshaphat, and two earning “Never before had there been a king like” titles. Those two individuals are King Hezekiah and King Josiah.
This all makes sense because God had already destined that David's throne would be secure forever, and since David is Solomon’s father, it was already established that Solomon would produce such great men, considering God had promised David in 2 Samuel 7 that his dynasty and kingdom would continue forever.
What’s even more interesting...is that we are reminded in this chapter that Bathsheba was Solomon’s mother. And we know the story of David and Bathsheba! What does that say about God blessing us even in our mess ups? God you are so good!!!
