Happy New Year! What an amazing year of learning! One year ago today, I established a blog and domain name, wrote my first public bible lesson, and posted it to the world on January 4, 2021. To God be the glory!!! Wow...what a blessing! We have had the opportunity to study over 200 bible chapters in 2021, and I’m hoping God blesses us with another great year of discovery.
Two weeks ago, we went on Christmas break, and I encouraged us to read chapters 2 through 8 in 1 Chronicles during the break with the goal of making connections with the descendants of the genealogical history of this book. As promised, I will attempt to summarize the connections I made while reading those chapters. Because not all chapters produced a connection for me, I will only discuss the chapters that manifested a connection. Some of the connections were more extensive than others, so I will discuss each of those chapters separately on different days.
With that, let’s start with chapter 2 and move on to the next connection-making chapter tomorrow, God willing.
We’ve already made an important connection in chapter 2, with the understanding of the 12 tribes (Read the previous post, titled “1 Chronicles 2 - Descendants of Israel”). However, another highlight of 1 Chronicles, chapter 2 is that Judah, one of Israel’s 12 sons (12 tribes), is the grandfather (10 generations removed) of King David. This makes David the Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great grandson of Judah. It was interesting to me to connect those two individuals and understand that piece of the family tree.
