1 Chronicles 11 - David Becomes King of All Israel

In this chapter, David is anointed king of Israel, as promised in 2 Samuel 5, and it discusses David’s mightiest men along with his elite 30 mighty men from 2 Samuel 23.

Something I learned as I was reading this chapter is that Jerusalem used to be called Jebus. This makes sense because in 2 Samuel 5, David goes to Jerusalem (Jebus) and captures the Jebusites, which, as this chapter indicates, were the original inhabitants of that land. Other than this detail, this chapter doesn’t offer any additional/substantial information that wasn’t covered in 2 Samuel 5 and 23. Because almost all of this chapter’s content is rewritten from 2 Samuel, it doesn’t make sense for me to notate what we’ve already notated. Therefore, read the chapter, see how it aligns with our lesson(s) in 2 Samuel, draw some conclusions, make some connections, and deepen your knowledge.

Lord, thank you for your Word today! Help us be seekers of the truth…your truth! We love you!

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

….AND MAY WE ALL PRACTICE THIS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
